Hello, I have a L.C. Smith Ideal 12 gauge with two ivory beads on the barrels. I am in the process of having Donnie at Show Me Gunstocks make a new stock and forearm. The original stock was chopped way down and the original forearm was replaced with a 2x4. SO he is making new ones. I want to have the barrels re-rust blued and have found a great guy to do so. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on removing the ivory beads without breaking them? I am going to polish the barrels before they are blued to save a few pennies but am worried about breaking the beads trying to get them off. Any help would be awesome! Thanks.

I had to replace the ivory beads on my specialty grade and bought a quality pin vise with different size collets from MSC Supply. I was not sure if they were pressed in or threaded. It turned out they were threaded (3-56 threads) and the pin vise held securely and I was able to remove them and replace with new.Hope this helps.Bill
