I just purchased a 1948 Field Grade 16ga and it does not have "LC Smith" on either side plate. Has anyone seen such a thing? It does not appear to have been polished off. I don't think it was ever stamped on there to begin with.

I have a 1943 Field Grade 20ga that also does not have LC Smith on either side plate. Obviously never stamped there. Maybe the stamper was out hunting that day.
