i think i have a keeper. 16 gauge a-1-a 30" barrels full and x-full what is it worth? what would a min. wall thickness need to be to safely shoot? what would be some nice loads? who tightens actions and can polish out barrels with blackpower corrison? ser-14xx. condition is as follows- no case,no barrel finish(polished),beautiful restock and fit,nice engraving. my first smith . i am a fox man. thanks for any help.

Bill;The first thing that you need to find out is if this gun has 2.625 or 2.750 length chambers.Only the very late guns have the longer chambers.If you have the short chambers you may purchase the shorter ammo or lengthen the chambers like I have done with mine which works out very well.If you are going to shoot 2.750 ammo I would reccomend Federal's 2.5-1oz.They seem to shoot much softer and reload much nicer than any of the others I have tried.Good luck on your new purchase.Charlie.

drew thank you for the response.i called walt the l.c.smith man and he suggested fred brunner.from calf. after a closer look at the barrels , i noticed that the serial # was restamped. i could not read the oringal number . because of polishing,but under the forearm on the rib where the grade is stamped , the restamp a-1 is over a p-2. ? the barrels fit good but could use a little tighting. is this possible? does anyone know if the a-1 had the same grade barrles as the p grade. are factory records avialable to enlighten the history of this gun? i am out of n.j. thanks for the help
