I'm looking at a low pressure load for my 1905 field grade 12ga. I've never used SR7625 so any experienced info would be greatly appreciated. The load is a one ounce load @ 1200f.p.s. at 6,600 p.s.i. Thanks, Dan

I have used it and it seemed fine. Some have reported problems with it in real low temperatures. I use PB and like it a lot. Someone else with more tech experience will hopefully add more info. CB

I have used SR7625 for years with federal gold medal hulls, winchester primer and wad, 1oz. 25gr/5300psi @ 1200 fps

I have used SR7625 for low pressure loads out of gold medal hulls for years and have never had any issues. I have used it late season (20 degrees) and had no issues. It killed quail without any noticeable fall out. It is the only powder I use for 12 gauge low pressure loads

Micheal, just curious if you have used the PB as well. 7625 got hard to find for me at one time and i went to the PB and never back. CB

Chris - I use IMR 7625 as well, and last purchased it through a wholesale/gun club relationship I have. It was a 12 lb keg - looks like a small beer keg! Although not as common, I called the company and they have no plans to stop making it. I also tried PB and a recommended wad that was giving me poor crimps, so I switched. The lighter loads pattern beautifully, and produce clean kills with no noticeable trade off. Call around, and you can find kegs of 7625 for a lot less money. Tom

I have used both powders and prefer the 7625 because it gives a little lower pressures.Both are almost the same but 7625 is a tad slower of the two.Don't get carried away with using too light of a charge,that's where people run into problems.Also,make sure that your load is stuffed tight in the case with a tight crimp.Primers make a big difference with these powders.Going from a Winchester 209 to a Federal 209 gave me a seventy-five fps. difference.I do prefer the Federal primer in the 10ga. loads with 7625.The best way to buy 7625 is in the biggest can you can find.It is more expensive than the more common powders and you use more of it in a given load so your cost per box is more.Good luck and get used to the sulfur like smell that 7625 produces in that cloud of smoke that seems to hang around a while.Charlie.
