I have a grade 1 LC Smith with damacus barrels that I believe was manufactured about 1904. The metal piece with the lug that holds the forearm on has come loose and needs to be welded back on. I am looking for recommendations for someone who can do that work.

Both Kearcher and Brunner are excellent smiths. Call both to get an idea on how long to get it back. My experience is Kearcher will be faster (note speed is relative and it could still be months) I have been very happy with Keith Kearcher and the work he has done on three different guns for me and my father. I have heard good things about Brunner's work from one friend directly and read good references on the net from others.

Check our Keith's website for examples of his work. He did a similar fix for me in a very timely manner.

As FYI, the forearm hanger lug is not welded in place; it is soldered. Fortunately the gunsmiths recommended are well versed in such a repair.
