Shooting a 3 inch shell loaded with 1 5/8 ounces of shot through an LC Smith at a turkey???!!!! The horror, the shame, the damage to a "fine game gun".... *shudders* I thought you were only supposed to shoot 7/8 ounce sub-sonic loads though them? Buck being a gunsmith, and a supposed expert on LC Smith's, you'd think he'd know better. When I suggested that a good old 1 1/4 ounce 3 3/4 dram high brass was a fine load for turkey I was howled down by any and all comers. Everybody said those "boomers" were just too much for one of these fine Smiths. I'm absolutely shocked that Mr. Hamlin would ever dream of committing such a crime against humanity. *wink* Destry

I love it! This may get some as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I plan on coming out of the shadows and joining soon. Destry, I am gainfully employed so the quest is back on for rail here in Illinois. I am looking at a couple of Longrange and Wildfowl models, myself, but not right now.

We saw a high condition Long Range Trap Grade on a local gun show table last year. It disappeared rather quickly.

Unfortunately, Buck does not have time to use the computer. So, he will not be responding to your deep concerns about his safety ("wink" as Markethunter would say). He spends all of his time repairing and restoring guns, restoring 1960s era muscle cars, and hunting - the good life.

Bill: Awhile back I acquired an 12 bore L.C. Smith SN RE99787 w/ 30 inch ventilated rib barrels the right being marked"L.C. Smith Trap Grade" w/ two broad arrows. The left is marked"Hunter Arms Co.Inc. Makers Fulton, N.Y. U.S.A.". It has a pistolgrip stock & beavertail forearm w/ a schnable. The left lock has three standing figures w/ one shooting. The right has a single standing shooter. Is this a fairly typical Trap Gun/ How common are these? Best Regards, George

About 3400 made, I don't know how many with vent rib. Sounds like a great gun. Rolf
