There have been some postings concerned with misdirected adolation of recently deceased celebrities and hand wringing over the political left's agenda against our magnificent doubles, but instead of belly aching we should all be members of the NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION. I have heard gun owners whining about the NRA not doing this or that or having too much of a politcial agenda as an excuse for not joining but it is the best organization around to protect our precious gun rights. I also agree with Tom. I first joined the NRA in 1953 at my father's urging and have been a member off and on since. I've witnessed many changes, good and bad since then, but they remain a strong voice on our behalf, I believe.

Tom is right on. Over the years I have disagreed with some of NRA policy, but over all, the NRA has the most clout and deserves our support. It has taken me many years but I have finally gotten to Benefactor level and feel not one dollar has been wasted. I'm a ten year AF vet., involved in some unpublished wars. Dick Baum

I of course agree as well. My wife and I are both members. Furthermore we actively help with the annual banquet here. The NRA may not be perfect but it's one hell of a lot better than what they have in Great Britian or Australia. Jim

You can support the National Rifle Association by attending one of the FRIENDS OF THE NRA DINNER BANQUETS. If you live in Northern Virginia near Front Royal there is a FRIENDS OF THE NRA BANQUET scheduled for September 5, 2009 at the Front Royal Fire House at 210 Commerce Avenue. The AP posted a report this morning from NRA Ex. Director, Chris Cox, stating he was not ready to "officially" oppose S/C nominee Sonia Sotomayor on her Second Amendment position, but mentioned there is a serious concern regarding it. Whether you become an NRA member, renew a membership, or simply make your voice heard through it, I support Tom's belief the NRA is the strongest voice we have, and we need one more than ever. This posting is certainly within the LCSCA Rules, don't you think? The more informed we are, the stronger and better united we are.
