All the pre-1913's I have are colorcased. I believe every screw and bushing going into the casehardened frame should be casehardened with the exception of the top lever screw. Best regards, Dan

A good friend of mine tells me that the COPPER or BRONZE color that I see on my firing pin bushings in my old LC Smiths is color that got transfered there from hundreds of copper or brass shotshell primers being fired in the gun. How about that !! Makes sense to me now. Jent

Many of the LC Smith firing pin bushings on shotguns made before 1913 appear to be made of copper or bronze, they LOOK like a penny in color to me. I DO NOT know if these firing pin bushings are the factory original parts. I am referring to shotguns that are over 100 years old in many cases. Jent jentpmitchell@msn.com
