72.155.38.177Just got in from travelling back, like most of us, so haven't had time for reports til now. Sad to say we didn't retrieve the cup this year, but did win the Hammergun event. 71.28.74.212We were too busy shooting to check in. We did manage to lose the cup again this year but had a good time none the less. We did repeat our win of last year in the hammergun event.
Practice and come help us redeem ourselves next year!!

Winning the hammer gun is just fine but thats only one apple against lots of oranges. No comparison. I don't notice your name on the membership roles. How about coming out and shooting with us next year. We would welcome the help and enjoy the company. It is a fun event.
I did buy a new gun on Sunday so I should be able to shoot better next year.
I look forward to receiving your membership application and check and will hopefully see you on the range at a future event this year.

76.123.247.198Hello Gentlemen and Ladies, If you have never been to THE SOUTHERN SXS in person to see the excitement of THE HAMMERGUN CHALLENGE then I would encourage you to do so. In my opinion The LCS vs Parker Hammergun Challenge is just as important as the main LCS vs Parker Challenge. It is true that there are fewer participants in The Hammergun Challenge but not less enthusiasm. The LCSCA has every right to be very very proud of its club winning THE HAMMERGUN CHALLENGE. Many of the shooters attending The Southern SXS are members of both the PGCA and the LCSCA and some are surely members of the FOX Collectors too. This year the LCSCA was able to recruit new members at The Southern SXS that will be shooting for the LCSCA at The Southern in 2009. One of the new recruits was shooting a Winchester Model 21 at the five stand on Sunday afternoon and I watched him hit 29 out of 30 at the five stand. Just imagine how well he will shoot with one of Frank's Crown Grade L C Smith's after I tape a cheek piece on the butt stock with black vet rap for him. I predict that next year the scores will be a lot closer in both events between Parker and LCS. All of this is a great deal of fun and it raises money for our shooting sports future. It should be noted that several of the LCSCA best shooters were not able to attend The Southern SXS this year due to a scheduling conflict with a large sporting clays shoot in Virginia. 65.188.137.58It should also be noted that the Ripon Cup, for the highest score in the Atkin, Grant and Lang Main event was won by Don Shumaker. Of course, he was shooting an L.C. SMITH, and beat all comers with a 73. Grant Rosser, the young man that Jent was referring to above, was High Junior and tied the Runner-Up score with a 72, losing RU by tie-breakers. Sharon McPherson also took High Lady in the Main Event.
We will be happy to have Grant join Don, Sharon, and all the other SPORTSMEN AND WOMEN who proudly represented L.C.S.C.A. at the Southern S X S next year.
Also note that in spite of some notable absences due to a conflict with the VA State NSCA Championships, PGCA fielded 61 shooters for the Challenge Cup. L.C.S.C.A. fielded 55 shooters, an increase of about 10% for both teams from 2007. So, if some think the "challenge" has gone out of the Challenge Cup, there are plenty of others that think we are moving in the right direction.
