    If you are referring to the hammergun, the "New Model" was used to designate the transition from the bar action to back action lock c. 1899



    In 1912 Hunter Arms started the "No Shortcomings" and "New Design" marketing campaign in anticipation of the introduction of the new cosmetics of the 1913 line. The ads specifically said "Not new models - merely the regular L.C. Smith Guns beautifully re-designed..."



    BUT some refer to post-1913 hammerless as "New Model"
