I wish you the best. I have had zero success with ANY postal service claim. I have had good success with UPS claims but have never claimed any more than insured value and/or a documented receipt of sale/ purchase value. To answer your question an aftermarket beaver tail Likely has essentially zero documented value. An original forend would likely be hard to prove much more than $150. I have successfully used Completed SOLD eBay auctions as proof of relative value. I have personally bought and sold several splinter forends all around 75-$100. I sold a 20 ga beaver tail on eBay several years ago for less than 100. I am referring to wood only
