Doug, the trigger guard, screws, triggers would be Nitre blued. The top lever does have some hardness to it, so I would think case hardened. If you decide to do the Nitre bluing, I have used stump remover from Lowe's. It comes as crystals. 600 degree is about the highest I could get it, but the crystals melted at a lower temperature. The trick to getting the parts right is to make sure they are polished and have no residue on them. Also make sure you wear a face shield and have a pair of long rubber gloves and do not let any water drops get into the bath. The water will explode and you could get burned. This trigger guard was not highly polished and it shows it. After the parts are in the Nitre bluing, take them out and run them under running water. It is safe now and the parts will have a crust to them that easily comes off. The amount of time in the solution is about 5 minutes.
