Lou you did not say if this gun has the Hunter One Trigger or is a two trigger gun.
Has the gun been recently taken apart, if so the screw under the top lever might be one full turn too much. (head of screw should be orientated to length of gun and this screw head is tapered to the slope of top tang.)
Check to see when safety is ON, if the triggers have some slight play in them. If they don't move there is a good chance that screw is too tight.
There is nothing to loose if you loosen it. Just make sure screw driver bit fits in head both in width and length.
