    yes is does have the markings on the rib extention




    interestingly, according to Jim Stubbendieck - it was recorded as a Quality 2 in the Hunter Arms Company ledger.

    and - although i have not cleaned them at all yet- the barrels look like a standard damascus pattern while the description says both quality 2 and 3 had chain damascus

    I appreciate all the help here- the seller's pictures left me thinking the engraving was badly worn- i could barely id the woodcock and not see the grouse at all. but he told me it was better than shown and he was right.

    But 2 or 3 - once I get the stock back together (a bad crack in the wrist but no missing pieces) and clean up the barrels some (not going to remove the history and try make this look new) I think its going to be a very presentable piece
