I have a vintage 12 gauge hammer double barreled (side-by-side) shotgun that was my grandfather's. It's old style in that to open it you push the forward trigger forward. It has a 30" barrel and the gun is 45" overall. The top rib of the barrel is engraved: "L.C. Smith maker of Baker Guns Syracuse NY Stub Twist". The only numbers I can find are "1908" stamped in two places on the bottom of the barrel under the foreend and "1908 A" on the mechanism frame. There is no number on the metal part of the foreend. How can I find out when this gun was made?
