Steve, that can happen. I have a 1908 hammer gun that right now has 4 sets of barrels to it, a set of 1899 Gr 1 barrels, a set of 1900 26" Stub Twist that are the original length with .032 and .034 constriction, a set of 1917 32" Armor Steel barrels, and the original set of 25 3/16" cut Royal Steel barrels bore and bore. The Armor Steel were the only extra set that needed to be fit, the others snapped right on.
The for-end was a different story and I use one for all barrels. The 32" Armor Steel has .040 and .041 constriction and they shoot very tight.
