Robert, I have this serial number down in my records of Hunter Arms box guns, but I do not put down where I found them. It could have been on Gun Broker, Auction Arms or Guns International. I do not have many Fulton Specials or Hunter Specials recorded as these are not as common as The Fulton.

From what I understand the record books only list the serial numbers 1,000-39,754 and do not list gauge or barrel length, but I would say around 1920. I have it as a 12 gauge with 30" barrels.

These guns are made very well, the only thing is the sear is attached on the top hole of the receiver. From what you are describing, the part of the sear that engages the hammer is worn and has to be filed for the sear to fit in the hammer for a stronger trigger pull.

This is basically the same frame except this is a Gladiator made by Hunter Arms for Sear Roebuck & Co. from 1917-1918.

Here is shows the sears and how they fall into a slot in the hammer.

I also had to file the sear as one was almost a hair trigger.

I call these a 3 pin receiver, with a 1 screw floor plate. Later, the box locks were a 2 screw receiver and a 3 screw floor plate.

There are a few other variations, and Brother Drew has them on the Picture Trail.
