My father just purchased a 12 gauge LC Smith shotgun. Being non-computer say he asked me to try to find out some information about it. The SN is 40713 and a "0" is stamped below the SN. He stated that the same serial number is found on the barrels, receiver, fore stock, and butt plate. The barrels were stamped with "London Steel" and a second set of barrels came with the gun and these barrels have the same SN as previously mentioned. However these barrels are only 17.5" long. It appeared to have patent dates from 1885,1886, and 1887 on the receiver beneath the barrels. From using this website, it seems like the gun is a Grade 0 and was manufactured in 1921. Any additional information that can be obtained from what I have described would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
