    Bruce, most L.C. Smiths had the screws "timed" to the gun. Most have been taken apart and someone didn't time them or didn't know.
    Since the one you are looking it is to the right it is probably a replacement.

    I have bought a few of these and was lucky in that when put in "timed" just perfect.

    I have also made screws for L.C. Smiths and to make sure they are "timed" to that gun the head has to be made longer (length), slotted and then put in gun, mark orientation on sides with a scribe after applying dykem (a fast drying layout blue) then putting screw back in lathe and making head the correct length. The slot is put in and then blue the screw. You can see how a $2.50 screw can now cost plenty. I have heard of some gunsmiths charging over $50 for one screw not engraved.
