The records show only 30 Deluxe Grade Smith guns having been built; most is 12 gauge with 2 in 16 gauge and a hand full 20-bores. The majority of the examples produced in this grade show differences so that no two are alike, but all that survives of the original production records are shipping ledgers; so we have no remaining records that could reveal who ordered a specific gun, or in what configuration, or which options the original purchaser may have specified. Your ancestor's Deluxe is the first instance I've heard of whereby one of these rare models has been destroyed; do you by chance have the original serial number or what might remain of the metal parts?
