How do I cock the hammers when disassembled?Archived Message

Finally got around to sending Bill much better images for this FAQ http://www.lcsmith.org/faq/hammerdisassem.html but thought I'd post them in case someone used the Search function for information
Both cocking rods rotated DOWN means the hammers are cocked
Left hammer is down, with the 'Smith Tool' in place on the left cocking rod. The arm of the left cocking rod (on the right side of the picture) must be ROTATED DOWN.
Left hammer now cocked
Right hammer is down, with a small wrench in place to rotate the right cocking rod (left side of picture) DOWN.
Right hammer now cocked
And now the stupid question - what are the round cutouts used for?!?
And a very blessed Christmas and 2015 to everyone!
