Scott makes a great point. The extra torque on the fore-end lug afforded by a beavertail fore-end would make it a great candidate for reinforcing. Likewise, I've seen lots of Elsies that I suspect were ordered by trap shooters that had the reinforced lug, even though they were neither 3" chambered nor "long Range" stamped. My thoughts are that if a gun was going to be designated as someones hi-volume trap shooting machine, then the reinforcing lug would be a great addition. My 2 cents!
