I may have missed something in the discussion, but have you checked firing pin protrusion? I had David Williamson make new firing pins for a 1900 hammer gun I just picked up because the pins were bent, and not protruding far enough to get a good primer strike. The nose of the firing pins take a beating from opening/closing the gun on empty chambers, due t the fact that there is no spring to retract them. I am in the habit of making sure the pins are back before I close the gun. Just a thought.
