Right barrel not firing every time Archived Message

    Hi
I have been working on a new to LC smith, Syracuse hammer gun.
My biggest problem that I can't figure out is the right barrel doesn't fire consistently.
The hammer is tight on the tumbler no play, it was loose and sloppy but I welded up the square shank and dressed it down to fit nice. Then I thought it was a sloppy firing pin so I made a new one. I figured that would do it but I missed the mark.

It fires sometimes and when it does the dent in the primer is full and deep. When it does not fire it just nicks the primer at about the 2 o clock position. Very shallow dent.
I am now thinking something in the lock hanging up although I have been through it more than once. Springs are strong.
Any thoughts on where to look next greatly appreciated.
    Thank You, Tom
