I have been working on my Elsie's lately. And I have a Field Grade, purchased about 20yrs ago, which looks like it was possibly re-stocked or at least refinished. and the case hardening redone sometime before I bought it.

Anyway, it's been like I said, 20yrs in my possession, and I have used it extensively even with heavy loads all of this time. Well, I decided to pull the locks for the first time, probably long overdue for the use it's had.

I was a curious as to the shape it would be in, but the locks do not seem to have any wear and the wood looks new on the inside with no cracks, etc. I lightly oiled the locks and checked the bridle screws to make sure they were tight. And, now I pretty sure it was restocked it's too good on the inside and there is a name on the stock, It says "Madwell" Does anyone know stock maker named Madwell?
