Clam shell latch and forend help Archived Message

    Hello,

I have an early Pigeon Grade with the clam shell style latch equipped with 1st style ejectors. I shoot the gun regularly and is the gun I shoot in my trap league.

I am having issues getting the forend off. I have done this countless times to clean and re oil the gun. Roll forward and remove the forend. I have read in the archives and I read a post by David Williamson that I may have issues.

Just to quote, "Also make sure that the "button" on the "clamshell" release is not turning, if so then it is out of it's slot in the slide and then you do have a problem."

That is exactly my problem. I am disappointed because my league starts this Wednesday. Is there something I can do to get the button back into the slot or is something like this best reserved for a gunsmith to do?

Is the gun okay to shoot until my next bye week in the league to send to a gunsmith? Gun functions fine and ejects the shells strong.

    Thanks in advance,

    Frank
