Carl, when the top lever is fully opened is this about the time you hear the click or as you described when the barrels start to move. If it is when the top lever is fully opened it could be that the trip spring is hanging up and then releasing causing the clicking sound. If the top lever stays opened before this than that is not the problem. In your last picture, it shows the extractors almost fully extended and could be that the timing is off.
That is the only two things that I can think of. Please let us know what you find out.
