Today I examined a gun store Smith. On closing the action (without holding the lever to the right) the gun made a very pronounced click, so much so that it was almost a clack if that makes any sense. Do you think this would indicate any mechanical problems? I have closed many Smiths in the same manner and never experienced this before.
