you need to pattern test first and POI test Archived Message

The first test you should do is a pattern test of your L C Smith at 16 yards and 20 yards and 25 yards. You need to find out if BOTH of your L C Smith barrels are shooting to the same point of impact at 16 yards and 20 yards and 25 yards.

Has anyone ever worked on the chokes of your L C Smith ???

I recently restored the POI in an L C Smith that someone had reamed improperly years ago. By correctly reaming the chokes in this old 12 gauge LCS we got the barrels hitting together again and got the chokes opened up to a much more shooter friendly size.

If the hearts of the 3 shot average patterns of your Right and Left LCS barrels are within 4 inches of each other at 16 yards you have an acceptable SXS. If the hearts of the R and L barrels patterns are within 2 inches of each other at 16 yards you have a great SXS !

You will need to shoot 3 shots from the left barrel at one patterning target at 16 yards and 3 shots out of the right barrel at 16 yards at a different patterning target and then compare the targets. You will be trying to locate the center of the average of the 3 shot patterns. All we want to know at this point is do the barrels shoot together ??? We do not care where the barrels shoot to we just want to know do they shoot to the same spot.

If the L and R barrels shoot to the same POI then we can address getting the gun to shoot where you are looking and shoot where you want it to shoot.

    Good Shooting To You, Jent
