Jent: I hadn't thought about a safety. Didn't they make a lot of 3-position safeties? Were they concentrated in certain manufacturing periods? The "S.F." is scattered in the ledgers-maybe two on a page with 80 or 100 entries of pre-1913 shotguns. It would take more than a few hours, but it would be possible to determine when they started and ended. I don't know what that would tell us to help answer the question. I was looking for the easy answer by tapping the vast knowledge out there rather than depending on my half-vast knowledge. Jim
