I bought a LC Smith 16 ga 4E that someone had briley choke tubes installed. I bought the gun knowing the history. I wouldn't have done it, but always thought it would make the gun more versatile. The gun looks all original, and shoots fantastic. It's a decision that you'll have to make on your own. Different loads will shoot a little different in a fixed choked gun, but if you really want variety go with choke tubes. Another option would be to pick up a second set of barrels say on ebay, have them fitted to your gun and have the tubes fitted to those barrels, then you'd keep the original ones original.
