Hi. They didn't use a jig. They used just a 3/32 inch punch, inserted in the threaded hole of the top lever.....apparently they just muscled it over. There's a picture of an employee doing exactly this in one of the LC Smith books.
I've assembled them using the punch method and also the recently discussed method where you push the top lever the "wrong" way...that method works very well.
