We will need to measure the bores and the chokes to determine what the choke is in each barrel. There are several different types of tools available to accurately measure the bores and chokes of a side-by-side shotgun. The are adjustable bore micrometers and fixed pin type bore micrometers. Do you live anywhere near Northern Virginia ??? On December 27th of 2013 I am planning to be in Allentown, Pennsylvania attending the L C Smith Christmas SXS Shoot. I could bring the bore micrometers with me to Allentown when I attend this shoot. If your L C Smith LONG RANGE 12 gauge is in normal and acceptable shooting condition then there should not be any problem with shooting standard lead shot 12 gauge shotgun shells in your 3 inch magnum 12 gauge L C Smith. I would never shoot STEEL SHOT out of any of my L C Smiths. I would be very cautious about shooting any type of shot other then LEAD shot out of my L C Smith. Good Shooting To You, Jent jentpmitchell@msn.com
