    Al, it is from 1899, The F grade was the lowest priced hammer gun. The barrels should be Stub Twist. It is a bar action lock, meaning the mainspring is behind the action, and should have the third style hammer or "C" type. It should also have what is called a "joint check", a cut-out in the receiver that receives the cylindrical disk on the barel lug that has two pins that go into the receiver. Upon opening gun, this disk rotates and pushes on the extractor to eject the shell.
    The patent number date covers this joint check.
