    Randy,
According to research in the record books done by our own Jim Stubbendieck, 2 Longrange came with 28" barrels, 223 came with 30" barrels, and 1784 came with 32" barrels.
If yours came with 30" barrels that would explain why there might be some constriction left.
The chokes on many L.C. Smiths according to drawings of regular guns (not Longrange) show the choke area to be parallel for 1" and then taper 1 9/16" to bore size, for a total of 2 9/16". There are no drawings of Longrange chokes, but in measuring mine there doesn't seem to be any discernible differences.
In the two that I have one is mod/full and the other is full/full with the bore of .728 and the chokes at .688 and .689. That's .040, pretty tight, but not unusual for a full choke "elsie".
I would have the bores measured also.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.
