I have been trying to confirm year of manufacture since aquiring mY L C last week. Much of the info I'm getting is contradictory, its fun though, and the mystery is exciting! My hammered gun with the march 29 83 patent, serial 26872 F, I know was made pre- 1898 because of the high, old type hammers and side plates. I have been told that the serial number would put it at about 1887, however, this website states that the syracuse numbers stopped under 23000. An L C historian stated that it was made in 1894 by Hunter in Fulton. Interestingly, there are no stamps or marks on either barrell except for the serial number underneath that matches the receiver. Any ideas?
