I have a L.C. Smith with serial number FW43806 on the forearm iron. The barrels are stamped "armor steel". The left barrel is marked "Hunter Arms Co.Inc. Mfrs Fulton, Ny, USA". The right barrel is marked "L.C. Smith Field Grade". It is used but to my eye in pretty good shape-no rust, blueing intact, stock and forearm undamaged. I bought it about 30 years ago for $50 without knowing anything about it. Its been unused ever since. I recently started to research the gun and found your site. I think the date of manufacture is 1897 from your chart-can someone confirm this. I'm also curious about a ballpark valuation or a pointer to a reputable gun dealer who might give me one.
