My gunsmith has the same opinion as your's regarding the Hunter One Triggers. I just had my 1922 FWE Specialty Grade 12 Gauge converted to double triggers. The gun recently began doubling on occasion and safety issues aside, I was worried about cracking the buttstock. My gunsmith believes that these old single triggers "fail by design". I had previously owned a 1906 Pigeon Grade that had the same problem. My Smith tried to warn me not to buy another single trigger Elsie, but I am somewhat stubborn by design and refused to listen. As stated above, I have owned two and both failed. I have never had a doubling problem with any double trigger gun. Because I shoot all my guns, and collector value is not my primary objective, if I buy another single trigger gun, I will do so with the intent of having it converted to double triggers.
