Should I shoot this Smith? Archived Message

I have a 12ga. Premier that I purchased many years ago at auction. Long bbls. tight chokes-just the way I like them. Only problem is that the original monte-carlo is about 1/2" too high for me and I see lots of rib when I mount it. I told my gun smith that I'd like to shoot the gun but don't want to cut the original stock. He has offered to bend the stock. Is this a good solution and would this affect its value, or should I find another gun to shoot?
