    My circa 1897 Grade 3 has woodcock/snipe on left side plate and quail on right with 3 oval rings around them. I have seen the one you are talking about and I'm sure there are other variations.

    I have to agree with SGT that these early Fulton guns are the nicest. I like the Syracuse ones but the early Fultons are especially nice. I have a circa 1899 2E with a straight stock and Crown Steel 30" barrels, I almost wish they were Damascus. Just the style of the checkering is fabulous. The ejectors weren't working, but I found the problem and made a temporary fix.
