Questions about purchasing a LC Smith Hammer Shotgun -- need some guidance!Archived Message

I need some help with buying an L.C. Smith. I have come across 2 Smith hammer guns with 32" barrels. One has Damascus steel barrels, was manufactured in 1915 and is chocked full/full. I have not had any feedback from the owner and can only see pictures and looks to be in reasonable shape (asking price is 1400 -- which seems high but without more information...?). The second gun does not have Damascus steel barrels (not sure what type of steel), is choked at full/full and was manufactured in 1911. This gun I am told is in great shape with shiny bores, no pitting, no rust, normal wear, great wood and has been in a gun cabinet for 30+ years (being sold by the owners son after the father passed away). The pictures of this gun seem to corroborate, on the surface, what the fellow is telling me. Price of this gun is 995. I would very much appreciate guidance on what to ask and look for to ascertain their grade, condition and integrity. I do plan to shoot the gun and will restore it as time permits. Also, guidance on price would be very much appreciated.
