I have gotten very little sleep over the past 2 weeks just thinking about the birds. I assume my English Setter thinks I'm getting birdy. I think I'll go ahead and get a couple of pounds of sliced bacon and some charcoal ready for Labor day. Our limit is 15 this year so I hope to limit opening day with all my kids doing the same.
Elsie 12 or the lite 20 on the early birds? That is the question at hand. I bought 9 flats of Super Xs last week on the Academy sale so I just need good weather (Bye Bye Fay)and the decoys to work their magic in the millet field.
It is hard to get up and go to work each morning as I drive down the road with coffee in hand trying to count the birds that have made their way to our happy hunting field.
It's still raining from Fay now as I write but good weather is on the horizon. As the first hunt of bird season approaches I know the Fall turning of the seasons is not far behind. God has provided the enjoyment of bird hunting and cooler weather just as He meant it to be.
My friends I hope you limit each hunt and are live to hunt another day.
