    I will try and do my best to help you so long as you don't call me Sir.
    The best way to do this is to take the wood from the metal, make sure you used the right size screwdriver to fit the slots. Don't forget the two (2) screws in the end metal part of the forend.
    Put the metal onto the barrels and see where it is loose and adjust it to fit. Make sure that the "J" springs retracting spring is not worn or broken by pushing and letting go.
    The "J" spring has some temper to it, so it is best to put it in a smooth jaw vise and lightly bend it, a little at a time until you have trouble taking it off by hand. When you need to use a thin shaft screw driver that is wrapped in cloth to take it off, you are there.
