I was at a gun show recently and ran across a real nice 12ga field grade featherweight, nice blue on the barrels and stock in good shape, the only problem i could see was someone had nickle plated the locks sometime in the past, I got to reading some archived post on the Forum and realized i may have let a good l.c. get away, how common was nickle plated locks, how can one tell if this was original other than in this case the patina of the lock plates matched the rest of the gun, i even had the dealer convinced the lock plates had to have been replated, gun show coming back to town in 2 weeks, I could have bought this L.C. for 600.00, I hope he still has it, any info on the nickled plates will be appreciated
