LC Smith / Repairs Archived Message

    Everyone,

I have recently acquired a L.C. Smith 20 gauge from my fiance's family. As an avid hunter, occasional bird hunter, and admirer of side by sides, I was very excited and eager to shoot the gun.

I took the gun to a local gunsmith to have it checked out and was told that it was not shootable. The gunsmith explained that the previous owner (fiances grandfather) had the barrels cut down and reblued. Unfortunately, the solder holding the barrels together had deteriorated and the barrels are "dead". You can actually hear particulate floating in between the barrels when you tip the gun up and down.

The gunsmith did say that the gun could be repaired. I would like to have the gun repaired and shootable again as it is a family heirloom.

Can you please recommend a gunsmith that may be able to take a look at the gun and hopefully repair it? I understand that this may be a costly undertaking but we are willing to fix it. I live in Scottsdale, AZ but am willing to ship the gun to a reputable gunsmith if necessary.

    Thank you for your help.

    Sincerely,

    Josh Jones
