    If this is the same Charlie Brooks I know from Maryland, surely you jest! If this is another Charlie Brooks who just happens to have the same moniker; then I offer the following: If the roller-latch in within a banjo shaped escutcheon, that signifies the gun is equipped with the very desireable factory auto-ejector option as is noted by the "E" prefix in the serial number. As to the escutcheon shape, most will be the "banjo" style; but some guns (usually later serial numbers) will have a plainer rectangular shaped escutcheon with rounded ends. As to your serial number, if there is also an "S" prefix in that number; that would indicate a much later Marlin era gun produced between 1945 and 1950.
