    No safety would be a special order request, as the sliding safety was standard; and although guns with no safety (often dubbed "live pigeon" guns) are not very common, they are seen from time to time. That said, I can't recall ever having seen a 16-bore Smith live bird gun; so would think this example quite rare. At any rate, with Crown steel barrels that gun should be a Grade 2 or Grade 3 gun.
