Mid West SxS Shoot Archived Message

I wanted to go ahead and publicly announce a proposed shoot I am trying to organize for next year. As a previous post of mine stated, there will be a friendly local SxS Shoot on June 21st.

I am looking ahead and have been thinking this over for quite some time. I recently have been contacting various members who have experience in matters such as these and have greatly benefited from their feedback. With that said, let me share some things with each of you.

For the last several months I have been visiting various ranges in hopes to find a facility that I thought would be a good place for a LARGE SxS shooting event. I have located a few places that I believe can handle such an event. The event would be held in Missouri, either in the St. Louis area or the central portion of the state near Columbia.

In my discussions with fellow shooters...it is often said that it would be nice to have a large event held in the Mid West. I tend to agree and I believe it could be made to work, if done right.

I have always thought it would be the ultimate if we could get a large representation of the known Collector Associations to all participate in one event. That is my proposed idea with this shoot.

I have begun to contact the various Collectors Associations of this idea and getting feedback as to their thoughts. Imagine a shoot where the L.C. Smith Collectors Association was joined with the Parker Gun Collectors Association AND the Fox Gun Collectors Association, the Lefever Association, etc... Now that would be some event.

This proposed event is still on the ground floor in development but it is progressing. I would love to hear from others on this. I have a good "core" group of local shooters here who are expressing their willingness to help get this done. Much more to discuss, but for now, at least...what are your thoughts on such an event?

    Respectfully submitted,

    Jason G. Harrison
