Bob, in my opinion, I think you did good. Especially a 20 ga with a second barrel and forend. As for the refinishing, if you have it done you most likely will not re-coop your investment into it. If you do the wood yourself and refresh the checkering, clean the barrels with 0000 steel wool if any light rust. Clean with acetone and use a good cold rust blue and I would leave the receiver alone. That is my opinion and I'm sure you will get others.
