Trap Grade SXS with Trap Gun Option Archived Message

I have just purchased a Elsie Trap Grade SXS. It has 3 inch chambers and is so marked on the barrels along with the "Long Range" markings on the lug. There is a "T" stamped on the water table of the receiver which denotes TRAP GUN OPTION.. It features the Single Selective trigger and has extractors insead of auto ejectors, and has a Splinter forend with no vented rib. Also the LOP is 13 1/4" with a Hawkins period pad.By the all matching serial number it was made in 1926 on a Regular frame, with a wieght of apx 8 lbs. The Barrels are 30 inch, which by the Brophy and Houchlins books is correct. The shotgun is in very good orginal condition overall with about 65% fading case colours, the gun never has been abused and is solid. The one exception is that the barrrels have been re rust blued, with some chamfering around the crown of the bores???? Both tubes touch each other at the end of the barrels? It is a distinct possibility that the barrels have been shortened, however a factory letter should clear that matter up? I have to believe that having a Trap Grade gun with apx 3400 guns made and being a Trap optioned gun makes this is a very rare configuration for an Elsie with probably less than 100 made? Also is this a specail order gun? Am I correct in these assumptions? I also need some order of value, obviousily if the barrels have been shortened it will be considerably less than if the barrels have merely been reblued. Also the question is why would someone want to shorten the barrels?
